Hamburger Rubric

The hamburger rubric is a wonderful way to present to kids that their learning builds through time.  I found and adapted the following rubric from http://ogsleaderinme.blogspot.com/2011/01/httpwwwrockwoodk12mousmedianetworkpages.html.

My rubric will be modified according to literacy skills that I am working on with kids this year.  The rubric will be used as a self-evaluation tool and a teacher/student collaboration.  In addition, this is an easy way to show a child's understanding to parents.

The Very First Thanksgiving Day by Rhonda Gowler Greene ~Early Literacy

This is the first of three seasonal PreKindergarten literacy units that Frannie shared with Trifecta Book Reviews.  Frannie has incorporated oodles of best practices in literacy into this unit including onset and rime, syllabication, initial phonemes, popsicle stick Pilgrims, labeling, facilitating comprehension through an "I Wonder" cube and a delightful poem!

Many thanks to Frannie for sharing with us!
